Rio Cleste

Rio Celeste is one of the most unique rivers you will find anywhere in the world. Here you will experience what looks like a leak in the blue sky as you look into the river and waterfalls of River Celeste and notice it is a very light sky blue color. This is a tour thatinvovles a one hour drive from the area of La Fortuna near the Arenal Volcano. You will get to an area where the road ends and you have to hike. This is a medium scale hike that has stairs. The entire tour has different options of how much you want to hike allowing you to see where two different color rivers come together, hotsprings, and waterfalls all with the sky blue color due to a nearby volcano.

When thinking of families and kids we think it's best that the kids enjoy a hike and 7 or 8 would be the recommended ages.

Reasons to Go?

  • A Sky Blue River and Waterfall!
  • Natural Hotsprings Unlike the others near Arenal
  • Great hike and a day in nature
  • Swim in natural pools of waterfalls
  • We know kids love the water and a great spot to refresh!

Reasons NOT to Go?

  • Not a lot of Wildlife
  • If it rains heavy the rivers color changes
  • Medium level hiking only for those who enjoy a nice hike
  • Could be tough for families with small kids.
