Maquenque Ecolodge is located in the northern province of San Carlos. If you are looking for that special spot to see wildlife where nobody really goes in Costa Rica, then the Maquenque Ecolodgewill be that place. This ecolodge borders the San Carlos River in the area of Boca Tapadasurrounded by lush tropical rainforest.

The ecolodge sits within its own private reserve of 150 acres and borders the newly namedMaquenque National Wildlife Refugee which measures 150,000 acres. This is a hot spot for a number of different flor & fauna and if you are a birder you might want to consider a 3 or 4 night stay at the Maquenque Ecolodge.

The Green Macaw is a regular resident of the lodge along with a long list of other birds.

The rooms are of a high 3 star level offering very comfortable accommodations and a picturesquerestaurant with views out over the lagoon. You won't even have to leave your breakfast table to begin your species count of birds.
