Caņo Negro Wildlife Refuge

Located in the north region of Costa Rica on the border of Nicargaua are the wetlands of the Cano Negro wildlife refuge. Here you will see many different species of wildlifeincuding monkeys, sloths, birds, caimans, and more during a safari float or motor boat tour. If you are an avid birder you can find some of Costa Rica's most unique water species at the Caņo Negro Wildlife Refuge.

You will make the one hour drive from the town of La Fortuna near the Arenal Volcano. When we operate our tours we always do the private Caņo Negro Tour contracting our guests their own private boat to cruse through the wetlands. You will also be with your CRR naturalist guide through the experience allowing you to learn the importance of the wetlands to our planet.

We really enjoy this tour for kids also. The fun part is getting families and kids excited about trying to help find different wildlife, which there is plenty of. We operate on a private boat allowing us to cut the tour short if the kids are getting tired.
